2. Test day 1: Live update
Gill decided to use Bat without hesitation and wanted to use favorable conditions on day 1 of the second test.
When he went back from the center of the field, his teammates and the head coach were ready to congratulate him to finally break the duck. Bowles Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel were in a fit of laughter and clearly teased the frog at the prospect that they had to mix in the morning on the day of the start.
The head coach Gautam Gambhir, who supervised the team on his home country, also had a smile when Gill greeted after the ceremony.

In the field, however, it was all business. India stuck with the unchanged XI and maintained the pace at the head of Bumrah and Siraj, unlike the expectation that one could be rested to manage workload. The team is ready to travel to Australia to a series of three ODI matches and the T20i series with five matches from 19 October to 8 November. While Bumrah was rested for the ODI series, Siraj is included in a group with matches scheduled for Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.
After packing the first test for just two and a half days, India had luxury to choose the strongest XI for the second match.
