The Kochi Cyber Police will file a complaint against the YouTuber
The Kochi Cyber Police plans to file a complaint report against controversial social media personality Mohammed Nihad, popularly known as ‘Thoppi’, with the state’s cyber operations department.
The cyber police are preparing a report after the state police chief ordered an investigation into a series of allegations against Thoppi and his former associates, all of whom are popular on streaming platforms, including YouTube.
The complaint was filed by lawyer Sreejith Perumana based on allegations the group members allegedly leveled against each other after they broke up recently. The complaint mentioning alleged offenses including sexual abuse of minors, drug use and obscenity has been forwarded to the Kochi Cyber Police by the cyber operations department for further action.
“As per preliminary verification, the alleged crimes did not take place in the jurisdiction of the Kochi City Cyber Police. Hence, the case cannot be registered here. However, the Cyber Police will prepare a report analyzing all the available videos mentioning the allegations against Thoppi and others and report to the state wing as soon as possible,” a senior Kochi City Police official said on Saturday, June 26. The official added that state officials are likely to decide on the next course of action on the complaint based on the report.
Thoppi was arrested by the Valanchery police in June 2023 for allegedly blocking traffic and using abusive language in public. Soon after, the Kannapuram police in Kannur booked him for circulating a video of obscene conversations. In April 2025, he was taken into police custody for allegedly threatening the crew of a private bus at Vadakara in Kozhikode.
Hailing from Mangadu in Kannur, Thoppi has a huge following on streaming platforms, mostly teenagers. He became famous for his off-the-cuff lines and use of foul language.
