8 October The government Assam suspended APS Sandipan Garg officer after he was arrested in connection with the death of Zateen Garg. Sandipan is the cousin and DSP.
Sandipan went to Singapore with the singer. He was reportedly on a yacht when singer Ya Ali died in swimming 19 September.
Sandipan faces accusations under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit, including murder, murder that does not concern murder, criminal plot and causes negligence.

The wife of Zateen Garg, Garima, spoke to reporters in Assam after the arrest of Sandipan. She revealed how the legendary singer felt about his cousin.
“Before Sandipan got into the police service, he was in modeling and acting. He used to be with us. He made us modeling 3-4 times. So he was good,” Garima told reporters.
“Zubin has always encouraged new talents. Since he was his brother (the first cousin), Zateen always loved him. When he got into APS, the dental was always proud of him,” Garima said.

“Zateen told everyone that he was the highest in our family and he’s such a good looking boy. He’s in police service. So he was proud of him,” she added.
Then Garima Garg revealed why Zateen took Sandipan to Singapore.
“Sandipan wished to go with the dental. He never went abroad. This time, when he said he wanted to go with the dental, the Zateen was very happy to take him,” she said.

Garima also talked about the arrest of Sandipan.
“Maybe they have a clue in their statement. So the investigation process is turned on. It’s their own course. I can’t say anything about it. The investigation, the law should go on the way to take its own course,” she said.
“All family members and the rest of Assam and all dental lovers are waiting for the result. However, the process will continue. We have this faith. We believe in our Indian law and court system. I think they will take the right way and will soon be able to give us some results,” she added.
