The Advisory Committee at the Food Safety Department stated that “sugar boards” were installed in 160 schools across Kozhikode.
This initiative is part of the ongoing health awareness program, which aims to drastically reduce excessive sugar consumption between students and fight the growing threat of lifestyle, such as child diabetes, said.
SS Mohanapriya, to which the Commission, chairman of the assistant collector Dr. Mohanapriya, reviewed the progress of other food health and safety projects in the district. These include the “Safe and SNF) scheme at school”, which is performed in the “Eat Right School” scheme, active in 26 schools and the “hygiene” program in 520 food facilities.
At the meeting, food safety officials provided key data on inspection and regulatory works between April and June. A total of 1,553 food safety licenses and 5,983 registrations were awarded in the district. In addition, 1,606 inspections were carried out during the period.
A total of 1,099 samples (473 statutory samples and 626 supervision samples) were collected and tested. 37 cases were given on the basis of sampling reports. It was found that 106 devices were issued for improvement and have been issued a notice. Almost 50 businesses were punished for the main violation and a total of 2.04 GBP Lakh was selected.
