The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow and orange alert of the capital. It predicts slight rainfall accompanied by bright storms and lightning.
The weather department also said that slight thunderstorms with lightning, hail and wind between 40-60 km / h are probably above the parts of the central, southwest, west, northwest and northern Delhi.
Visibility has reduced
The downpour has significantly reduced visibility, resulting in traffic jams and waterlogging in several areas.
At Palam airport visibility dropped from 6,000 meters at 13:30 to 1200 meters to 17:00, according to the Indian meteorological department (IMD).

The airport in Delhi sees 15 flight diversion
On Tuesday, up to 15 flights were diverted at the airport in Delhi due to heavy rain in the capital of the national city.
The clerk said that out of 15 flights 8 was diverted to Jaipur, 5 to Lucknow and 2 to Chandigarh.
“At the moment, there is a heavy downpour over #delhi, causing some temporary disruption of flight plans. If you are traveling today, please be aware of the potential delay and leave the next time for your journey, especially with the movement of traffic slower than usual.
“We carefully follow the situation and get you in the air as soon as possible,” Indigo said in X at 18:26.
Traffic crawls around the city
Tuesday’s heavy rains brought traffic movement to walking after several parts of Delhi, which led to long growth and severe inconvenience for commuters.

FLIGHT OPS has been affected
At the beginning of the afternoon, Indira Gandhi International Airport issued a warning against possible flight disruptions. “Due to the unfavorable weather conditions in Delhi, flight operations at Delhi Airport are affected,” Delhi Airport said.
Several operating flights from Delhi Airport also published advice.
Indigo said in post X: “With heavy rains and thunderstorms are again expected in #delhi that there is a chance that this could lead to air traffic overload and impact on flights.”
Air India also released a similar warning and said, “Rain can affect the flight operations to AZ Delhi today.”
