
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to start the International Airport Navi Mumbai (Nmia) on Wednesday. The first phase of the airport, the development of the approximate point for the Metropolitan region Mumbai (MMR), was recently introduced in an official video published on the social media on Tuesday.
Built for the price £19 650 Crore as part of the public and private partnership (PPP), NMIA is located as the largest Indian project of the Airport in India.
Before the inauguration, the first video NMI on the social media was released on Tuesday.
New airport to alleviate overload, increase the connection
NMMIA is set to transform the infrastructure of air transport in the region. The second international airport serves the MRD, it will work together with the current international Airport of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (CSMIA) in Mumbai to significantly alleviate air traffic overload and establish Mumbai as the capital city with more Airport system.
The airport includes an area of 1,160 hectares and is designed for high efficiency. It is assumed that it will eventually handle 90 million passengers annually (MPPA) and processes 3.25 million metric tons of cargo.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport boasts a few unique and sustainable functions:
- Automating People Mover (APM): The planned transit system designed for trouble -free travel, internally connecting all four passengers and interconnection of the airport with the infrastructure on the side of the city.
- Sustainability: Airport includes several green initiatives, including reserved storage for sustainable air fuel (SAF) and plans for 47 megawatts of solar energy production.
- Connection: NMIA will be the first airport in a country that will be connected by water taxi services. It will also offer electric bus services for public transport throughout the city.
The government assumes that the new airport will bring a “positive change” to the lives of CROR people throughout the region.
Mumbai Metro Line-3
On Wednesday, PM Modi will also start the 2B Mumbo Metro Line-3 phase, which stretches from the Acharya Atre Chowk to Ciffe Parade.
Phase 2b project was built for estimated costs around £12 200 crore.
Mumbai – 3 (Aqua Line) metro, exceeding 33.5 km from Ciffe Parade after Aarey JVLR with 27 stations, will provide 13 passengers a day.
