The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Telangana warned that the state system of the countryside is on the verge of collapse, with only 600 primary health centers (PHC) for more than 12,000 grams of Panchayat. A strict lack of qualified healthcare workers in villages and mandals left the inhabitants dependent on unskilled specialists and unscientific methods of treatment, which represents a serious threat to public health, he added.
In the memorold presented by Governor Jishno Dev Varma, IMA Telangan representatives explained the efficiency of the Kerala Healthcare, where almost 99% of the Panchayat gram are associated with PHC, which provide 24/7 services, including delivery and operations. In addition, Kerala’s Community Health Centers (MCSS) work as 100 inpatient hospitals equipped with experts in every mandala headquarters. On the other hand, Telangana lacks a comparable infrastructure or staffing, he noted.
“The absence of adequate healthcare facilities in rural areas led to the uncontrolled spread of charlatan and unscientific practices. This also forced the public to spend the main part of its income for private health care,” said IMA Telangana Dwarakanatha Reddy.
The Association expressed concerns that despite the rapid expansion of medical education in telangana, when 66 medical faculties, government and private, now operating throughout the state, the services of qualified experts are not fully exploited. “Every year about 9,000 doctors, 6,000 specialists and 3,000 super-specialists, but their expertise do not achieve the people who need it most,” Reddy.
Ima Telangana also drew attention to the spread of treatment based on superstitions and religious practices that continue to use poor and illiterate communities. “Age methods such as Pasarla Vyzzzd, Katla Vyzzzd and various mantras and Tanthras are still predominant in several villages,” the association said, warning that such practices were caused by the harm under the guise of faith and tradition.
