
Main Minister N. Chandrababu Naida claimed that Andhra Pradesh (AP) is on his way to become a state of zero garge within 1 January.
On Monday, he spoke as the main guest as Swachha Andhra Awards 2025, Mr. Naida noted that the previous government imposed garbage tax and neglected waste management, resulting in accumulation of 85 lakh metric tons (MT) garbage bins across the state, including Turumal.
On the other hand, he said that the NDA government immediately canceled the waste tax after entering the office and set a goal by the end of December to clean 85 Lakh MT accumulated waste. So far, 55 Lakh MT has been cleaned.
It reminded that in 1998 he launched the program Clean & Green (C&G) – the first of its kind in the country – Mr. Naida stressed that he had visited Singapore to study his C&G initiatives and introduce night hygienic units in Hyderabad. He also mentioned that the students were motivated through the “Green Passports” to plant seedlings and that the third Saturday of each month was observed as Swachha Andhr Day.
Previously, the Minister of the Municipal Administration of P. Narayan, chairman of Swachh Andhra Corporation K. Pattabhi RAM and the main secretary (municipal administration and city development) dealt with the assembly of S. Suresh Kumar.
The main minister handed over Swachha Sainiks in 21 categories of 75 state prizes and appreciated their determination to maintain clean cities.
