
As Darjeeling and its surrounding areas are winding from devastation caused by torrential rainfall, landslides and lightning floods, members of the Jadavpur University family (JU) Student Himadri Purkait remained on the outskirts.
According to a message Author: Indian Express, Purkait, a third year student at the university based in Calcutta, went to Darjeeling 22 September and four days later arrived at a popular tourist place.
Purkait, a passionate traveler, often captured special works to finance his ways, and this time he took the work receptionist in Darjeeling Lodge.
While a few days since he arrived at Darjeeling normally, Purkait was not subject to the phone when a heavy shower at the weekend zinte.

“We talked every day, but his phone turned off from Sunday morning. He’s going like this – he last traveled for six months.
“Last time I talked to him on Saturday around 22:00. He told me he had just finished dinner, and that there was a lot of work pressure, because many of the Lodge staff were on vacation for Dussehr. I told him it was raining very strongly and asked him to go to a safer place.
The 24-year-old, no foreigner to travel up the hills, has visited the area several times and even worked as a guide, because of his familiarity with the region and its tourist attractions.
Given that landslides and lightning floods hit the area, neither Purkait nor his family received any updates from the cottage or authorities.
When parents of Purkait are anxiously waiting for it to hear about it, rescue operations continue in the area affected by disaster.

Since torrential rainfall flooded the region, at least 28 in North Bengal, while many remain missing.
