Central Reserve (CRPF) police forces distributed more than 10,000 radio sets in distant areas of Bastar in Chhattisgarh as part of a public campaign and moved the locals from Maoist ideology. The initiative comes when the region witnesses a decrease in violence in left -wing extremism (LWE).
The Palamilitarian Power recently completed a four -month exercise after organizing hundreds of small and large public events across villages.
A special program of civil event, which includes seven Bastar districts, was launched by the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) at the beginning of this year with a budget allocation of 1.62 Crore, said the higher official.
CRPF, based in the Bijapur district, stated that a total of 10,800 radio sets deployed in internal places were distributed.
Connection with the locals
The program focused on the connection of almost 54,000 individuals, considered each family a five -member unit, he said. “The aim of the mega radio distribution unit is to connect local residents, tribes and villagers with the mainstream of the country.”
“While the strength is working to achieve the declared Union government to end Maoism in the country by March 2026, these measures are part of the involvement in the local community to shut down them from Maoist ideology to make the profits to be achieved by the armed operations.
The locals were also informed about various government and entertainment programs that are passed on the radio, except for the monthly address of “Mann Ki Baat” by the Prime Minister.
The Union’s government has asked CRPF to provide space for more radio towers in remote places so that residents have access to national and state levels.
Each of the 180 CRPF companies received 60 radio for distribution. Officials said CRPF was selected for this unit because it is the main force that has created the operating bases in advance for performing specific anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh and is well deployed inside the most Maoistia-nail areas.
Radio sets, acquired for a special campaign, can run on dry batteries or directly through the power plate connection. The cost of each radio set is about 1,500 GBP and supports FM, MW and SW frequency.
