
Travancore Devaswom (TDB) has rejected as unfounded news that claims that money from its excess fund was used to organize global Ayyapp Sangamam.
In an official statement, President TDB Psanth explained that no amount from the excess fund was diverted to the event. He said that the annual budget of the Board of Directors includes allocation for salaries, pensions, repairs and maintenance, as well as the organization of religious conventions and discourse.
Separate account
For the current financial year, the CRORE 5 GBP was earmarked under the head of the budget of “religious conventions and discourse”. Based on the global Ayyapp Sangamamu, a separate savings bank account was opened and all the income and expenditure related to the event were managed in this account.
“The means for Sangamam were accepted entirely from sponsors AZ Fund of excess was not taken a single rupee,” he said. The statement also noted that the use of excess funds is strictly controlled by section 26 of the Hindu institutions Travancore-Cochin (Tchri).
While the budget of the Board of Directors allows expenditure on religious activities, such expenditure has decided to meet such expenditures through sponsorship. Any unused amount of the event will be credited back to the Devaswom Fund, added edition.
The answer to the accusation that a lot of money was spent on accommodation of several guests in luxury hotels in Kumarakom, Mr. Prasanth explained that the arrangement was carried out by the Department of the Protocol on the Secretariat and the expenses bears this department, not the Devaswom Council.
