Jaishankar talks to Rubio and protests the US Navy attacks that killed three Indians

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and lodged a strong protest against the US Navy’s strikes in the Persian Gulf that killed three Indian sailors.

“Such lethal action against merchant shipping is not justified,” Mr. Jaishankar said in a post on X about his talks with Mr. Rubio.

Three Indian-manned vessels were attacked off the coast of Oman this week. One of them resulted in the death of three Indian sailors on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).

“I spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio this evening. I reiterated India’s strong protest against the US Navy’s strikes in the Persian Gulf that killed three Indian sailors,” Mr Jaishankar said.

India has summoned the chargĂ© d’affaires of the US Embassy in Delhi to file a protest on the matter.
