Illustrator C. Bhaggyanath was selected for girls artist Namboothiri Samman, an award introduced in honor of the secession of sketching and sculpture that died in 2023. The actor Mohanlal, who is the patron of trust, announced the prize, said Mr. Bhagyanath significantly contributed to the segment of literary illustrations. The actor will award the Award to Mr. Bhagyanath at the Hall TDM event at Ernacula at 17:00 October 18. The event will take place as part of the observation of the centenary of Namboothiri.
The winner was selected by the jury headed by the main journalist and critic KC Narayanan.
Mr. Bhagyanath, a native of Thalassery, known for a different style of sketching, has been creating illustrations of literary works in Malayalam over the past 27 years. He made illustrations for almost 25 novels. His works were exhibited at several exhibitions in and outside the country.
