Sooryavanshi’s next child prodigy? Vaibhav’s 10-year-old brother smashes a century
While Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to make headlines with India AND Sri Lanka, another member of the family has grabbed attention at home. His 10-year-old brother Aashirwad Sooryavanshi scored a century in a local practice match in Bihar in a performance that quickly sparked interest across cricketing circles.
Aashirwad, who made it to the Tajpur Cricket Academy in Samastipur, scored 103 off 87 balls in an innings full of attacking strikes. The youngster hit 20 fours and a six while scoring at a rate of 118.39 to help his side to 234 for 4 in 29.5 overs. Shivam Raj contributed 52 as Tajpur Cricket Academy posted a commanding total.
The innings earned praise from Vaibhav, who is currently part of the India A team competing in the Tri-Nation A Series in Sri Lanka along with Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. The teenager shared the scorecard on his Instagram story and posted a congratulatory message for his younger brother.
Aashirwad’s century comes at a time when Vaibhav’s career continues to skyrocket. The opener was one of the standout players in IPL 2026, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 776 runs. His season brought numerous accolades, including the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player of the Year and Super Striker awards.
Vaibhav’s performances over the past year have made him one of the most promising young cricketers in the country. The left-handed opener finished IPL 2026 as the top scorer with 776 runs and won the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player of the Year and Super Striker awards. He also hit 76 sixes during the season, breaking the long-standing record held by Chris Gayle.
His form earned him his first call-up to India’s T20I squad for the tour of Ireland and England, while he was also included in the country’s Asian Games squad. With the 15-year-old joining the senior national team for the first time BCCI asked his parents accompany him on his travels. If selected in the playing XI, Vaibhav could become the youngest cricketer to make his debut for India, breaking the record currently held by Sachin Tendulkar.
