From the taming of wild elephants in conflict situations in Central India and Karnataka to the leadership of Jamboo Savari on Vijayadashmi, Tusker Abhimany has dropped his name in history – as a wilderness warrior and royal bearers of Mysurur tradition.
At the age of 59, it could have been the last Dasara from Abhimany, although the authorities accepted the last challenge in time.
As a regular in Mysur Dasara, Abhimanyu has been known to the current generation as a powerful tusker that has been carrying the golden Howdah since 2020 during Jamboo Savari.
Taming “Rogues”
But not many of them are not aware of his perfect data about the taming of “dishonest elephants” in their lair in Central India. At the end of the 80s and early 90s. The years of torture for villagers around Sargu was in the undistributed Madhya Pradesh and the current state of Chattisgarh.
The elephant score moved from the neighboring Bihar to Sarga in the search for feed after unrestrained deforestation due to uncontrollable mining, and these wild elephants caused confusion in the tribal region.
BC ChittiaPpa, a veterinarian of wild animals from the Karnataka Forest Department, remembered that the Carnataka, to which the Madhya Pradesh authorities turned to the crisis, and the first choice was on credible elections – among others.
It was a mission that was considered impossible to capture a herd of almost 22 elephants that caused confusion. Dr. ChittiaPpa, who led operations in Central India, reminded that they were traveling for five days in a truck and arrived in a conflict zone.
Dr. ChittiaPpa and his team awaited the jungles in an operation in which Abhimanyu and the rest watched the elephants and in their lair dampened “rogues”.
What was perceived as an impossible mission was done and dusted and it was met in six weeks. The so -called rogue elephants were captured and placed in Kraal for training and taming, Dr. ChittiaPpa.
Captured on a movie
The whole exercise was captured on the film Mike Pandey and the last migration: Sarguja elephants, which emphasized the conflict of man-slon, continued to win the prestigious Panda Award, which is considered “Green Oscar”. When Abhimanyu played a key role in the damping of elephants, he qualified to be called an “Oscar star” in his right.
Abhimanyu, captured in 1970 in Kodag, is the Alpha charger and the main stay of the Karnataka forest department in his Czech operations. Abhimanyu’s exploitation is well documented in the state and is considered to have helped to capture 150 elephants and about 40 to 50 tigers.
Grace and gravel
Elephants are considered a mixture of grace and gravel. And Abhimanya draws these elements when displaying raw strength and controlled aggression in the jungles or in personification of POISE and discipline during Jamboo Savari.
