The man carrying Ganja of Odisha to Rajasthan was arrested on Tuesday by the team of the special operational team Maheshwaam (SOT) Rachakond.
Officials confiscated 1,2110 kilograms of Ganja worth 6.25 crore from him.
The defendant, identified as Vikram Vishnoi alias Vikas, 22, driver from Osian Sedian, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was captured on Tuesday morning when transporting a smuggled truck on the national highway 65 in Kothaguda X Road.
The police said Vishnoi was working with well -known Ganja smugglers from his birthplace, marked as Devil alias Kata, Aayub Khan and Ramlal, by all the inhabitants of Osian then in Jodhpur. Three men employed him as a driver and promised £ 5 to travel to the transport of Ganja from Malkangiri to Rajasthan.
Vishnoi first transferred the iron load from Jaipur to Nanded in Maharáštře, then came to Hyderabad and later moved to Khammam, where he collected cement bags to cover smuggling. He left the space in front of the truck and left for Malkangiri, where he bought 1,2110 kilograms of Ganja from unidentified suppliers. He hid the packages under cement bags and covered the load with a sail before he started for Rajasthan via Hyderabad.
The case was booked by the police Abdullapurmet under the Act on Narcotic and Psychotropic substances (NDPS).
The accused is in custody and further investigations are underway to identify the other involved – for the purpose of monitoring the supplier chain.
