There is only a month left on the state government campaign about the statement of Kerarals without extreme poverty, steering that the district administration Ernacula says it is close to reaching the goal.
Since the government plans to make a nationwide statement on November 1, officials involved in the project in the district stated that they are on the way to fulfill the deadline, and the procedures allocate the land that is now completed. In its final phase, the program of eradication of extreme poverty (EPEP) focused on providing housing for the needy, including people without land identified through the project.
In Ernacula, the authorities identified 217 recipients who did not own any country on which they could build a house. “Of these, 149 were allocated land and procedures for issuing titles remaining 68 are taking place,” the officials said.
Of the 68 recipients who are still waiting for the ground, 38 in Kanayannur Taluk – the highest number among all talos. The remaining recipients include 12 families in Kochi Taluk, 14 in Kunnathunad and four in Aluva Taluk. Among the recipients in Kanayannur Taluk lives 29 in Kochi Corporation. Each recipient is entitled to up to five cents of land for building a house within the program. Officials stated that the required land was identified for most recipients and that the procedures for issuing documents are taking place on the title.
The Panchayat district bought the land for some recipients for 2 lakhs in available locations, while for the rest of the authorities they identified the appropriate “Poramboke” ground. Funds were assigned to 259 recipients with land for building houses and 360 for house maintenance within EPEP.
“The first phase of the program focused on ensuring basic needs, such as food support, health care and living for the needy, and we have already achieved these goals. Now we are trying to complete the housing folder before the deadline,” said PH Shine, EPEP project director, Ernakulam.
EPEP started in 2021 as one of the first decisions on the cabinet of the current democratic leading government. After surveys at the ground level, 64,006 families throughout the state were identified as extremely bad and micro plans dealing with their immediate and long -term needs were prepared for each family.
