The CPI (M) Andhra Pradesh demanded that the state government and the regulatory committee for electricity (ERC) return 2,758 GBP Crore to consumers, which were allegedly collected illegally as fuel regulation fees (FPAC).
In a statement issued on Sunday, the State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao, CPI (M) welcomed the ERC command, which ordered a refund of 923 GBP Crore through the truth range in 2024–25, which was reflected in the 13 Pais loan per unit in one year.
The CPI leader (M) said that this amount was not enough, because consumers were already burdened with the “unauthorized collection” of 2,758 Crore via a monthly surcharge of 40 Paise per unit under FPAC.
“It is clear that this amount has been collected illegally and unfairly. Therefore, it must also be returned to consumers.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao accused the government of betrayal of her preliminary election that there will be no further burden on electricity consumers. Despite the assurance of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababa Naida, the government imposed for 2022–23 and 2023–24, except for the monthly FPAC fees, the regulation fees said 15,485 GBP.
“Reducing the burden on CRORE by 923 GBP and hiding the fact that tens of thousands of CRORs have already been collected from consumers unacceptable,” he said.
The leader of the CPI (M) also demanded that the policy of collecting fees be excluded. He also urged people to prepare to put pressure on the government in various forms of agitation until all such burdens were withdrawn.
