The Assam Police launched a separate probe against the accused manager of Shyamcan Mahant in the death of Zateen Garg in Singapore 19. September for his suspicious role in organized financial crimes and obtaining real estate through money washing, according to official documents. This comes in the middle of Singer’s family, which filed a complaint with the state criminal investigation (CID) during his death by drowning and looking for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Manoj Kumar Borthakur, Garg’s uncle and one of the signatories of the complaint reported that they sent a complaint to CID on Saturday on Saturday. He mentioned, “We want a thorough probe into the circumstances of his death.” Other signatories include the wife of Zateen Garg, Garim and his sister Palme Borthakur.
The leading policeman said, “We received a complaint from the Garg’s family and explore it.” He added that the special investigation team (SIT) CID is already investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the singer-composer and the family complaint will be launched within the probes. “We needed to ask about certain things and our officers met the family. Their statements are recorded,” the officer added.
The SIT team also visited Garg’s residence in the Kahilipar area in Guwahati on Sunday. According to official records, the volumes of “incriminating” documents and items from the Shyamkan residence were confiscated during raids on Thursday and Friday.

These were more cards registered under the name of one company, almost 30 seals of brands belonging to various companies and government officials and documents concerning several Benami properties.
After searching, CID Senior SP Ashif Ahmed filed a detailed company, outlined all renewed materials and demanded a separate investigation of the alleged financial inconsistencies of Mahanta, including attaching and freezing all its assets, PTI reported.

After receiving the complaint, the CID headquarters registered the case on Saturday evening under several sections of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia (BNS) and appointed another investigative officer of another SP Moramee das. CID is also investigating Garg’s death, while more than 60 companies were filed across the state against Mahanta, which was the main organizer of the Northeast India festival in Singapore, where the singer played, along with almost 10 others, including singer Siddharth Sharma.
Who is the shyamcan of Mahanta?
Shyamkan is the younger brother of Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant, the former DGP and the current main information commissioner Assam State Information Commission. Another older brother, Nani Gopal Mahanta, worked as an advisor to education of the main Minister Himanta Bisw Sarma than was appointed Vice President of Chancellor of the University of Gauhati.
Zateen Garg’s Death: What does CID say?
CID said: “During the search, several incriminating documents and articles were confiscated that clearly point to the committee for serious financial discrepancies, counterfeiting and the use of fraudulent funds for unlawful financial gains. Ownership and use of more cards on behalf of the same entity establishing fraudulent intention and handling and project money.”
“Such recovery strongly indicates the involvement of the accused in counterfeiting, compulsion, production of official documents and the use of such counterfeit tools for financial transactions with the intention of cheating on financial institutions, government authorities and other stakeholders holding more impacts that are based on the same amount. 2002, ”he added.
She stated that several documents were also found in Mahantic residences and office spaces on road construction within the PMGSY system across various districts Assam and Arunacal Pradesh.
