IPL 2026: Huge blow for LSG as star player leaves camp ahead of final two games

Lucknow Super Giants’ Aiden Markram (ANI Photo) Aiden Markram has left the Lucknow Super Giants camp midway through IPL 2026 and is set to miss the rest of the tournament due to personal reasons, giving LSG a big setback ahead of their last two league matches.Markram flew back to South Africa for personal reasons, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo. The development comes just hours before Lucknow’s clash against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur and means the South African batsman will also be unavailable for LSG’s final league match against Punjab Kings on May 23. While Lucknow is already out of playoff contention, Markram’s absence could still affect the shape of the top four. LSG’s remaining matches are against Rajasthan and Punjab – two teams still fighting for the final play-off spot in IPL 2026.The timing of Markram’s departure is particularly significant given Lucknow’s recent improvement after a disappointing campaign. Although their playoff hopes are over, LSG have looked much more competitive in recent games, winning two of their last three matches. For Rajasthan, Tuesday’s match has huge playoff implications. RR are currently sixth in the points table with 12 points from 12 matches and remain firmly alive in the qualification race despite a worrying dip in form. The Royals have lost three consecutive matches, including two defeats against the Delhi Capitals, and have also suffered three straight defeats at their home ground. However, the qualifying scenarios are still open for RR. Wins against Lucknow and Mumbai Indians would take them to 16 points, which could be enough to qualify for the playoffs. They could even qualify with 14 points if they get other results, so every remaining game will be critical – including Lucknow’s finals now without Markram.
