Meanwhile, the Minister of Education in Panjab Harjot Singh Bains strongly condemned the detention of climate activist Sonama Wangchuk after recent protests in Ladakhov, who turned violent and demanded that the renowned activist be immediately released.
He described his arrest as “direct attack on democracy”, claiming that Wangchuk was a voice of Ladakha, not a criminal.
The climate activist advocates Ladakhovo integration into the sixth schedule of the Constitution, which concerns the administration of the tribal areas and the advocates of the creation of autonomous district councils with certain legislative and judicial powers.
