The Chief Secretary of K. Vijayanand ordered the district collectors to pursue strict preventive measures against seasonal diseases such as diarrhea and gastroenteritis (GE), remaining on high readiness for potential floods in the Godavari and Krishna basins. Vijayanand, who addressed collectors through a video conference from the Secretariat, said that whenever diarrhea or GE cases were reported, the affected areas must be fully contained, medical camps and all food stalls in these zones are immediately closed. It emphasized the need to repair leaks in drinking water pipes without delay and perform regular quality checks on hand pumping and boreholes. “If supervision supervision leads to an outbreak, the government will take strict steps against responsible officials,” he warned.
Referring to the recent outbreaks of diarrhea in Vijayawada and Guntura, the main secretary emphasized the need for rapid intervention to prevent public problems. He ordered officials of urban and Panchayat Raj to follow the water pipes near the drains and strictly enforce preventive measures.
As for the flood situation, Mr. Vijayanand noted that the growing water levels in the Godavari and Krishna rivers required vigilance, because in the next three days severe rainfall is predicted. The Office for the MD Disaster and the General Director of the RTGS Prakhar Jain informed him about the tank of the tank and the weather conditions.
