
Main Minister Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said on Friday that the arrest of climate activist Soman Wangchuk was unfortunate and claimed that the government led by the BJP “retreated”.
“The promises were provided with people … I do not understand the urge to retreat after promises,” Abdullah told reporters on the secondary dormitory of the opening ceremony of the third Junior Asian Championship Silat in Srinagar.
Sonam Wangchuk arrested
Sonam Wangchuk, climate activist, was arrested on Friday, two days after the violent protests in Ladak left four people dead and 90 other injured.
On Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior canceled the license of the non -profit organization activists “students of the Ladakh educational and cultural movement” (Secmol) to raise funds from abroad under the Act on Foreign Contribution (Regulation) or FCRA, 2010.
The domestic ministry accused Wangchuk, head of the LEEX points (LAB), who, together with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) headed by agitation to support requirements – statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion in the sixth schedule of the Constitution – in the past five years, provocation leading to violence.

Abdullah referred to the promise of J&K restoration after the elections to the Assembly and stated that people were involved in the Union’s territory and then the government was established on the basis of these promises.
He asked if people were held far from statehood because they did not choose BJP to power.
“If this is the case, they should tell the court that until the BJP creates a government in JK, statehood will not be restored,” he said.
On the question of the leader of the opposition (LOP) in accusing the J&K Assembly Sunil, Abdullah justified violence in Ladak, CM said that BJP had always blamed others.
