The Government Railway Police (GRP) confiscated around four tons of rice for the supply under the public distribution system (PDS) from the express train to the Jolarpet railway station on Thursday.
The police said that special police teams were created on the basis of the collector K. Sivasanaravalli to avoid smuggling PDS rice in the district. During a surprising check at the Jolarpet Railway Station, the police team found four PDS tons in 80 Gunny bags at the extreme end of the platform. They caught rice and handed it over the cost of supplying Tirupattur Taluk (TSO) of the Ministry of Civil needs.
The police analyzed the CCTV shots at the station and found that few people were interpreted by PDS rice bags near the platform at the station. The police said the seized shipment of rice was to be sold to wholesale vendors in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Special teams were created that charged the suspects. The case was registered by the police Jolarpet and another probe is underway.
