The Madras High Court submitted the main secretary and the Minister of the Interior as respondents to the petition of Tamilaga vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Wednesday and called on their response to the political decision that the state government adopted for collecting security deposits from political parties whenever they intend to organize public hearing, processes and other events.
The justice of N. Sathish Kumar ordered the newly presented respondents to give their answer by October 16. He also commented on the displeasure of the assistant of the General Inspector (AIG), the official of the police, who served in the Office of the CEO, who submitted in response to the order approved by the court 18 September.
In his affidavit, AIG stated that there were no legal provisions that would collect security deposits to compensate for public / private property loss during public events carried out by political parties and that the police department would require time to be ordered in this respect.
Dissatisfied with such a response to the judge told another prosecutor (app) E. Raj Thilak that “what is needed to create instructions is the will to do so.” He said that AIG was not a suitable official to decide on a political decision on behalf of the state government, and therefore it was necessary to implement the main secretary and the domestic secretary as the respondents of the case.
TVK, represented by his deputy Secretary -General CTR Nirmal Kumar, turned to the High Court, which complained of the “difficult” conditions that the police deposited on the ongoing campaign of its leader C. Joseph Vijay throughout the state. The party claimed that its leader was selected and that such conditions were stored on the order of ruling expenditure.
During the hearing on Case 8. September, Judge Kumar took note of various incidents of damage to private/public property caused in the past during the huge assembly of political parties and impressed the need for the state government to include the instructions for collecting security deposits to compensate for loss according to Tamil Nadu assets.
“When you collect EMD (serious money deposits) from civic suppliers, why cannot you collect a security contribution from political parties, especially if the TNPPPDL law determines the compensation of the loss caused to the public and private assets?” The judge asked the application.
