Three candidates were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan on Thursday (June 11, 2026) after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations expired. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Satish Poonia and Alka Gurjar won two seats while Congress candidate Neeraj Dangi secured the third seat.

State Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer Bharat Bhushan Sharma said three candidates were elected to the upper house as no other candidate was in the fray for any of the seats.

It was found that the number of validly proposed candidates was equal to the number of vacancies. All the nine nomination papers filed by the three candidates were found valid during the scrutiny conducted at the State Assembly earlier this week.

Biennial elections were held for three Rajya Sabha seats as the terms of Congress MP Mr. Dangi and BJP MPs Rajendra Gehlot and Ravneet Singh Bittu will end on June 21. The opposition Congress renominated Mr. Dangi for a second consecutive term.

Mr. Sharma issued election certificates to all the three candidates. Although the voting for the Rajya Sabha elections was scheduled for 18 June, the voting became unnecessary as only three candidates contested for the same number of vacant seats. The newly elected MPs will serve a term of office until June 2032.
