Assam’s cult singer-composer Zateen Garg was cremated by state awards in the village of Kamakuchi in Sonapore, about 30 km east of Guwahati, Tuesday (September 23, 2025).
Garg’s deadly remains, shrouded in the Asemic Gamosse, and maintained inside the glass coffin controlled by temperature, were transported to a place from Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports complex in a flower ambulance. On his last journey he was accompanied by his 85 -year -old father Mohini Mohan Borthakur, wife of Garima Saikia Garg and other family members and relatives.
Tens of thousands of fans followed an ambulance, and many others lined the highway between Guwahati and Sonapore to last SuperStar.
Garg’s body was held in the sports complex for more than 48 hours after Sunday (September 21) arrived from Singapore through New Delhi. This was done for the lakhs of his fans from and outside the state to give the last respect “Voice of Assam”, who was also a lyric, music and film director, actor, screenwriter and philanthropist.
In Kamuchi, the singing “Joi Zateen da” rents air and fans sang one of his most popular songs Mayabini, Unisono as Garg’s sister Palme Brorthakur and composer Rahul Gautam Sarma, his Protegé, lit Pyr in the middle of the weapon. Garg often asked his fans to play this song when he died.
Before the singer-composer’s body was sent to flames, the Vedic rituals were carried out as the main minister of Bisw Sarma and the Ministers of the Sarbana Sonowal, Kiren Rijiju and Pabitra Margherita Pyre.
On the border there was also a branch of the tree of sandalwood, which Garg planted on his birthday in 2017.
Sought -after impartial probe
At the beginning of the day, a second autopsy was performed on Garg’s body on Garg’s body at the Guwahati Medical College and the hospital was performed in the presence of doctors from the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences. The first non -invasive post mortem was made in Singapore 19 September, the day he died.
The certificate issued by the Singapore authorities said drowning as the cause of death.
The main minister said that the state government decided for the second autopsy for the demand of fans who suspect that Garg, fighting bad health, was forced to swim despite his doctors’ instructions to keep him away from the water and fire.
Garg is reportedly emotionally blackmailed to the 4th Northeast India Festival in Singapore. The show was abolished after his death.
More than 50 first information reports were reported against Shyamkan Mahant, the main organizer of the festival and Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma. The state government ordered the crime investigation department to club all FIRS and explore the circumstances that led to Garg’s death.
Among several organizations, the Assam Citizens’ Forum required the citizens of the impartial investigation of Garg’s death through a panel including former police officers, crime experts, judges and lawyers.
Garg, known as a rebel who spoke the truth to power, was open and led a non -conformist life. He sang about 38,000 songs in 40 languages, especially Assamese, Bengal and Hindi. It was known to be based on the way to help people, financially or through activism and legal assistance.
