Domestic flight services connecting various cities from Kerala airports have recently faced some strong wind, with unexpected abolitions concerned some popular services that combine the metro and the level of two and three cities.
The domestic flight service tension is expected to be more in the upcoming winter plan. For example, Thiruvananthapuram Airport has recently witnessed the abolition of some popular services, including the services of Chennai, Mumbai and Bengalur, operated by airlines such as Indigo, Air India and Air India Express.
The new flight service launched from the International Airport Thiruvananthapuram to Ahmedabad, Gujarat by Indigo Airlines, which operated four days a week, was canceled, although it had a good load factor. Later, after the request of the airport authorities, the service was restored this week. Recently, Cochin-Aganti operated by Indigo from Kozhikode was stopped. According to sources at the airport, the service was stopped by an airline and quoted a lack of aircraft. However, the airline recently renewed the service after the airport operator’s request.
Spicejet services from Cochin International Airport have also been recently disrupted, except for services such as Cochin-Agathi. According to sources of airlines, the winter schedule of the International Airport in Kannur is probably witnessed by the abolition of several domestic flights. The domestic flight service tribe was visible from the number of passengers that are processed by Thiruvananthapuram airport. In the past, Kerala’s airport has managed more international passengers than domestic leaflets.
Recently, however, home leaflets have exceeded international passengers from Kerala airports, except for Kozhikode, where international passengers stick. In 2024, Thiruvananthapuram airport recorded a section of more than 49.1 passengers, with 26.4 lamps who traveled on home routes and 22.7 lakhs on international routes, against 22 lakhi passengers and 19 lakh international passengers in 2023.
According to sources, the decline in domestic flight services influenced the performance of the domestic sector. Airlines quoted various reasons, including aircraft lack of aircraft and grounding aircraft for various reasons. The relatively higher range of airlines yield on the popular routes of the trunk also caused airline companies to focus more on services between metro cities, the head of the air officer said.
