Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and Minister of City Development Bangalore DK Shivakumar.
Deputy Chief Minister and President of the Karnataka Pradesh DK Shivakumar Committee on Sunday rejected the BJP accusation that the Congress Government encouraged religious conversions on behalf of the socio-educational survey and claimed that the exercise was intended to ensure justice for social and educational community.
“Our government wants to unify people while BJP is divided. This survey is carried out from various communities that felt they were not properly listed earlier. The whole state machine is trying to ensure that all communities get a fair opportunity,”
He said that the survey will be carried out throughout the state from September 22 to October 7, while school teachers help officials by visiting households. “Nothing is needed. Teachers will not cheat. This survey should help backward classes. Awareness must be created in every community. Regardless of the rich or poor, everyone must be attributed. Even those living outside the state or abroad can register online.
He replied to the Rambhapuri Mutt Seera notes, who expressed doubts about the list of Veerashaiva-Longayats, said there was no reason for suspicion. “The report of the H. Kantharaj Commission is an old decade. Therefore, a new survey is conducted,” he explained.
Shivakumar rejected the accusation of BJP leaders that this exercise was intended to divide the Hindu society or the soothing minorities, he said: “This is a politically motivated accusation. Let them mobilize their communities to enroll in the census.
Previously, in Bengalur, before leaving for Delhi, Mr. Shivakumar refused to comment on the views expressed by the leaders of the Vokkaliga who opposed the survey. He said he would answer later.
During his visit to Delhi, he clarified that he had consulted lawyers on Cauvera and Mekedat, which are listed in court for hearing.
