On Sunday (September 21), Beijing in Beijing was visited by Bipartisan delegation of US lawmakers, who met Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in a rare House of Represetenttes aimed at “breaking ice” and strengthening ties between the two largest world economies. The visit comes in the middle of the ongoing tension over the trade, Tiktok and military activity in the South China Sea.
The delegation led by a democratic representative Adam Smith met in the Great Hall of the People. Smith emphasized the importance of renewed engagement after years without formal visits to the house.
“We can acknowledge that China and the US have to do a job to strengthen this relationship, which should not be what, seven, six years between visits to the American house of representatives,” Smith Premier Li said.
“We need more of these types of exchanges and we hope that it will break the ice and start to have more of these types of exchanges.”
Prime Minister Li welcomed the delegation and described the way as an “ice abuse” mission that would further bilateral cooperation.
“It is important that our two countries have more exchanges and cooperation, not only good for our two countries, but also great importance to the world,” said Li.
Smith appreciated China and the US for finding peaceful coexistence despite disagreements: “China and the US are the two most powerful and influential countries in the world, it is really important that we get along, and find a way to coexist in the world.
The delegations also included Michael Baumgartner, a Republican in the Committee on Foreign Affairs, along with the Democrats RO Khanna and Chrissy Houlahan from the Armed Services Committee. The legislators will remain in China until Thursday.
Tiktok Next and traction connection
The visit follows a rush of discussion in the US and China, including a recent phone call between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The waiting agreement would give us US companies control over the Tiktoku algorithm, while American citizens who have six out of seven seats on the album are supervised by the application operations.
“Great American patriots are planning to buy this application … They are very intelligent technologically and will not allow tiktoku to happen,” Trump said.
The White House Secretary Karoline Leitt confirmed the administration optimism: “Trump) recognized the need to protect the privacy and data of Americans while maintaining this application open. Tiktok is an important part of our democratic process.”
Oracle, led by Larry Ellison, is reportedly one of the probable buyers of American operations in Tiktoku.
90 -day tariff ceasefire is close to expiry
The gentle balance between the two largest economies in the world is facing a potential test because the 90 -day tariff ceasefire between the US and China will start in early November. The temporary agreement has so far prevented newspapers from escalation, but its end could cause renewed economic tension and business disputes.
Trump repeated a difficult attitude to trade and warned European officials that he was ready to save new tariffs to China because of his support for Russia.

Military and security interviews
While business discussions dominated the trade, military-military communication was a priority for the US delegation. Smith emphasized the importance of open channels between the two armed forces:
“We are very focused on our army-military interviews. As a member of the Armed Services Committee I am deeply concerned that our two military organizations do not communicate more.”
The visit comes against the background of tense relationships that deteriorate by US limits for the export of semiconductors, disputes about Tai -Wan and Chinese demands in the South China Sea.
Delegation and bipartisan efforts
Together with Smith includes delegations:
Michael Baumgartner, Republican, Foreign Affairs Committee House
RO Khanna, Democrat, Armed Services Committee
Chrissy Houlahan, Democrat, Armed Services Committee
This meant the first visit to the Beijing house since 2019 after Covid-19 stopped the official stock exchange. Meanwhile, US lawmakers visited Tai -wan, angry Beijing and launched military exercises on the island.
