Despite the onset of monsoon, heat waves are forecast to persist in Telangana till the weekend

Southwest Monsoon has covered parts of Telangana. However, according to the forecast, the heat will last until the weekend. Hot conditions continued in several districts as the maximum temperature on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) was 43 °C and 18 districts recorded maximum temperature exceeding 42 °C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad Center on Thursday (June 11, 2026) predicted heat wave conditions as very likely in isolated pockets in seven districts of North Telangana on Friday (June 12, 2026). In addition, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are forecast in 18 districts.

Heat wave in seven districts of Telangana

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail and will be observed in isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumaram bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts.

Thunderstorm forecast for 18 districts of Telangana

Thunderstorm with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is very likely to occur on Friday (12 June 2026) at isolated places at Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, V Rangarabadjad, Hyydadri, V Rangarabadjad, Hyankarabeddy Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet. and Jogulamba Gadwal districts, according to an IMD bulletin issued on Thursday.

Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad and Nagarkurnool districts.

Maximum temperatures in Telangana on June 10

According to Telangana Development Planning Society data, the highest temperature of 43°C was recorded at Vemanpally in Mancherial, 42.9°C at Laxmidevipalli of Bhadradri Kothagudem and 42.8°C at Buggaram of Jagtial on Wednesday. The maximum temperature was below 40°C in only nine districts.
