Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that the Bathhukamma festival would be organized throughout the state, from villages to city, from 21 to 31 September, and all efforts were made to enter the Guinness World Records book.
“Celebrations will include the invitation of poets and writers to compose and discuss the songs of Bathokamma. Bathhukamma will be arranged on the site of Bathukamma and even at the airport to show the world of Telangan’s culture,” he said.
He talked to the media together with President TPCC Mahesh Goud and a former deputy V. Hanumantha Rao after reviewing Bathhukamm on Thursday in the city. He said that during the festival they will be carried out aware of health and emphasize that Bathhukamma is a collective celebration of cohesion, not an individual event.
Mr. Malesh Goud claimed that some people have politicized the festival with different songs and narration. “This is the Telangana festival, the tradition of Telangana and must be celebrated above the party lines,” he said.
He also appreciated the efforts of the main Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Mr. Hanumanth Rao in the protection of Bathukamm Kunt in Amberpet and repeated that the renewed pond now belongs to people and festival.
Mr. Hanumantha Rao criticized the previous BRS government for neglecting the historic pond Bathhukamm. “For 30 years, people were not allowed to play in the Bathokamma pond despite repeated challenges.
He attributed the current government of Congress for the revival and beautification of the pond. “When I said Sonii Gandhi that Bathukamma was our culture, she also held Bathhummu. My congratulations cm for the protection of the pond,” he added.
