New Delhi: Much discussed promotion and regulation of the online game law, 2025, which effectively banned the Indian Indian industry online game last month, will be introduced from 1 October, said Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday.
Rules for the implementation of the Act on the Protection of Digital Personal Data (DPDP), 2023 – whose proposal was published by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) 3 January – is also ready and will be informed by September 28, the Minister told New Delhi. The two regulations of the landmarks, which will enter into force in the next two weeks, are likely to move with a number of compliance requirements.
Under the game law Vaishnaw said that Meity organized a consultation with the online gaming industry. “We have been with them for almost the last three years and we dealt with them after the law was approved. We also dealt with banks and completed the rules, Vaishnaw said.

“The rules will be announced with effect from 1 October and before that we will have another round of discussions with the industry. If they need even more time, we will definitely look at the next round of consultations,” the Minister said.
The government official said that the key problem raised during consultations for industries was the return of users’ balances. “The government has led discussions with banks to enforce restrictions and also with industry to understand the timeline in which users’ money is to be returned. This should not be the main reason for delaying the law on online games,” the official requiring anonymity said.
The game law prohibits all game operations, payments, promotional and money -based advertising. Industrial groups warned that it could delete 200,000 jobs and reject 400 companies.

The clerk said the evaluation of the center found that it was an inflated number. “Our assessment of direct employees in this industry was just over 2,000 – and nowhere close to 200,000 data that was originally offered by the gaming industry,” the clerk said.
After the platform announcement such as Dream11, Gameskraft, Games24x7, MPL and Baazi, they said they would close the actual money operations.
Three individual appeals in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Delhi were rejected for a court order against the law and all hearing related to this matter was transferred to the Supreme Court. The gaming industry also awaits the Supreme Court’s judgment on tax requirements from the center, which is expected to be announced in the coming months – with the law forbidding this industry.

Personal Data Protection Act
The DPDP law has been produced for a long time. The first proposal of this Act was introduced as the 2018 Personal Data Protection Act by a special committee, chaired by BN Srikrishn. Since then, it has undergone several iterations and changes, as well as industrial consultations with large technology companies, domestic conglomerates and other parties.
The bill was finally submitted in parliament on 3 August and received the President’s consent on 12 August, which formally was a law. The rules have been in limb for some time and stopped the implementation of the first Indian Personal Data Protection Act.
“First of all, we will announce the rules of the Personal Data Protection Act. After this, the Center will be published for easy understanding and interpretation of the First Indian Personal Data Protection Act.
