
Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) has floated a selection procedure to choose a consultant for the preparation of the main plan for the development of the “global city” in Madurantakam Taluk in Chengalpath.
Through Tidco, the state government proposes to develop this city, which will serve as leading international business, innovation and lifestyle.
The aim of this initiative is to place Tamil Nadu as a preferred global destination for high -quality investments, sustainable city development, industries based on knowledge and balance of ESG.
During the Tamil budget of the 2025-26, the Minister of Finance Thangharas said that a new city would be developed near Chennai and covered 2,000 hectares. “Work for the first phase of the” Global City “project, which offers first -class facilities, will start soon,” he said at the budget presentation.
The “Global City” will present the planned mix of commercial, residential, institutional, recreational and cultural zones supported by the new generation urban infrastructure.
It includes intelligent city -controlled AI, urban simulations based on digital twins, intelligent mobility platforms, green and blue infrastructure, durable public services and intelligent energy/water to ensure efficiency, sustainability and adaptability to future needs.
Development will include IT districts, financial districts, innovation centers, congress and exhibition centers, residential communities, health and educational institutions, hospitality clusters, entertainment zones and green open spaces.
The project also assumes digital and physical connectivity, integration of renewable energy, waste and water systems and inclusive community development.
