Anvay Dravid, son of legend Rahul Dravid, named in India U-19 squad for tour of Sri Lanka

Anvay Dravid and Rahul Dravid (Image credit: Agencies) NEW DELHI: Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, has been picked in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka on Thursday.The BCCI Junior Cricket Committee, headed by S Sharath, on Thursday announced the squads for the tour, which will consist of three one-day matches and two multi-day games starting on July 4. Anvay was named as one of the wicketkeepers in the one-day squad alongside Rajat Baghel. For the multi-day matches, the selectors chose Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal as wicket options.The Karnataka youngster has been making steady strides in age-group cricket. During last year’s Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he led Karnataka to the quarter-finals and impressed with the bat. He scored 220 runs in six matches, including an unbeaten 82 and another half-century during the tournament.The tour will be led by Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan, who has been appointed as the captain of both the one-day and multi-day teams. Lakshya Raichandani will serve as vice-captain in both the formats.Anvay’s selection continues the Dravidian family’s growing presence in the Indian junior set-up.
