
Rajesh Ravindran, the main main conservator of the Rajesh Ravindran, called for the adoption of scientific methods and international cooperation in the field of production and trade in teak, said the sectors are facing a number of challenges.
On Wednesday (September 17, 2025), the fifth edition of Teak World Convention Center inaugurates.
Mr. Ravindran said that key challenges facing the teak sector included climate change, lack of materials for quality cultivation, non -scientific afforestation programs, interference of wild animals and obstacles to capital and market access. “These challenges can be transformed into the occasion of adopting scientific methods, proper training and international cooperation,” he said.
The event is attended by experts and delegates from more than 40 countries that are first hosted in India.
KB Singh, the General of the Forest Inspector, the SU division, the Ministry of the Environment, the Forests and Climate Changes, which was the main guest, emphasized the importance of sharing success and failure of experiments with teak cultivation throughout India to prevent the past mistakes.
Sheam Satkuru, Executive Director of the International Organization Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), called for extensive discussions on teak production, marketing and livelihood dependent on this sector.
The three -day conference includes sessions on economic assessments, adding value, market development and building legal and sustainable supplier chains for teaks.
