Engineering student arrested for sexually assaulting classmate in Ibrahimpatnam

A third year engineering student from Choutuppal has been arrested for sexually assaulting his classmate in Ibrahimpatnam.

The accused has been identified as Uday Kumar, 20, a student at a private engineering college in Ibrahimpatnam. According to the police, the accused and the victim were friends for the past six months.

An official from the Ibrahimpatnam police said that on May 14, the two had planned to go to Dilsukhnagar for dinner at the request of the victim. However, the plan changed and while returning to Ibrahimpatnam the accused stopped the car and bought beer and breezers.

When they reached the BDL road area of ​​Ibrahimpatnam, the accused insisted that the woman was consuming alcohol and forced her to drink, police said.

The official said the accused initially intended to drop the victim at her hostel, but as the hostel was closed around 10.45 pm, he took her to his room in Ibrahimpatnam where he sexually assaulted her while they were both drunk.

Following a complaint filed by the victim on May 15, the Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused was arrested on Monday (May 18) and placed in judicial custody.
