The High Court in Kerala sought the report of the State Government on steps that were made to make police officials responsible in torture cases.
This was followed by a native of Pathanamthit and former leader India (SFI) K. Jayakrishnan, who claimed to have been brutally attacked while he was deputy police manager who was then a circular police inspector and K. Guzdumar. He was looking for a court directive to initiate criminal prosecution against these two officers.
The petitioner said that besides being attacked, the police entered his name as accused in many unresolved cases. Small steps were taken against the officers, despite the report of the district police chief recommending against them.
