BJP MLC and former Minister AH Vishwanath on Tuesday claimed that Minister Siddaramaiah was playing the Curub for his political survival.
Vishwanath, who addressed a press conference on Tuesday, said Mr. Siddaramaiaha’s fresh step to involve the proposal to include Kurub community in the list of planned tribes (ST) was part of his political proposal to face representatives of the Minister of DK Shivakumar.
Here it can be mentioned that Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Vishwanath belong to the Kunuba community, which is currently categorized among other backward classes (OVC).
It reminded that the proposal to include Kurubas on the STS list was subjected to an ethnographic study during the former main Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and an ethnographic study was also conducted, and Mr. Vishwanath said that the subsequent government of Mr. Siddaramaiah handed over to the Government of the Union.
He argued that Mr. Siddaramaiah is not interested in ensuring the integration of Kurubs into the STS list. He claimed that the main minister did not contribute to Kurub, but in his difficult times relied on the support of the community.
Fresh caste census
Mr. Vishwanath said that the caste census made by the State Commission of Karnataka for back -class, led by Mr. Kantharaj, issued good news, but Mr. Siddaramaiah did not have the courage to accept the message.
The report was allowed to disappear for ten years before throwing away the exercise and decided on the fresh census, he said.
Regarding the creation of new castes that recognize converts, BJP MLC said there was no need for new caste as a “trunca Christian”.
“As soon as one transforms into Christianity, he becomes a Christian,” he said, adding that there is no need to maintain an earlier convert caste. However, he said that conversion is the right of man in democracy.
Vishwanath supported the government’s decision to invite the writer Ban Mushtaq to start Dasar, and welcomed the High Court’s decision to dismiss petitions that question the government’s election.
