The teaching body seeks the immediate implementation of the salary review committee, temporary relief

Members of the Navyandhra Teachers’ Association (NTA) on Wednesday strongly objected to the delay in the implementation of revised pay structures for employees, despite a sharp rise in prices of essential commodities along with rising costs of education and healthcare.

The association’s state president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao said in a statement that government employees, teachers and pensioners have been waiting for the new Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and Interim Relief (IR) for the past three years. They said that the steep rise in the prices of basic commodities, along with rising expenditure on education and healthcare, has placed a heavy financial burden on the families of employees.

NTA leaders pointed out that the postponement of the PRC has not only affected the salaries of employees but also caused losses in Child Care Allowance (DA), Provident Fund (PF), gratuity, pension and other retirement benefits.

They demanded that the state government should immediately announce 30% IR and create a new PRC without further delay to ensure the legitimate rights of the employees. The association also stressed that the welfare of employees and the quality of public services are closely linked and called on the government to respond positively to their concerns and take immediate steps to provide financial relief.
