Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) gathered in the state capital to felicitate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has become the country’s longest serving continuously elected Prime Minister after 4,399 days in office.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu delivered a “resolution of gratitude” in Mr. Modi’s honour. Former Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Nitish Kumar was conspicuous by his absence, though his son and Bihar minister Nishant Kumar attended the meeting.

Moving the resolution, Mr Naidu described Mr Modi as “the right leader, at the right time and at the right place”. He said the 21st century belonged to Mr. Modi, who was first elected as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001.

“Sometimes I look inside and ask myself – how is he able to consistently meet people’s expectations?” Mr. Naidu said, eliciting laughter from Mr. Modi. Calling it a transformative moment for the country, Mr Naidu said it marked the “beginning of a golden era”.

“Our faith in his leadership is complete, our commitment to the people is unwavering and our determination to build a Viksit Bharat by 2047 is unshakable,” Mr Naidu said.

The nearly 3,000-word resolution enumerates the Modi government’s achievements over the past 12 years, saying Mr Modi’s leadership “embodies delivery, accountability and integrity” achieved through “seamless integration of people-centred development, participatory democracy and performance-oriented governance”.

Describing Mr. Modi as the first prime minister born after independence and the first non-Congress prime minister to secure a third consecutive term, the resolution said he had forged a “unique bond” with the people of India.

The resolution also highlighted the political expansion of the NDA in the last decade. It said the alliance currently governs states that account for more than three-quarters of India’s population and territory. Positioning itself as pro-Dalit and pro-tribal, the resolution said the NDA is in power in seven of the 10 states with the highest Scheduled Caste population and eight of the 10 states with the highest Scheduled Tribe population.

“The NDA is in power in almost all states of the North East, many of which have a high tribal as well as Christian population,” the resolution said.

The document also highlighted “15 trade agreements” signed recently with “38 nations” and said the world now sees India as a preferred investment destination. She went on to praise the Modi government’s reforms, from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to new labor laws.

“It is under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi that India has become a leader in the digital economy,” the resolution said. It also reiterated the government’s claim that more than 25 million Indians have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty during Mr. Modi’s tenure.

The resolution further praised the government’s handling of terrorism and cited measures including surgical strikes, airstrikes and Operation Sindoor.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio supported the resolution. Other NDA leaders who addressed the meeting included Hindustan Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) leader Chirag Paswan, Rashtriya Visgar JahChayef Minister (RLD) Deo Sai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
