Environmentalists in the city embraced several trees to send a strong statement against the practice of lighting trees during Dasar.
The activists, the leadership of MySore Grahakar Parishat (MGP), gathered before the residence of the Commissioner and organized the “Appiko baroral” on Sunday.
The authorities were asked not to pack branches and stems of trees with electric wires and bulbs that underline their negative impact on tree health.
The protest assumes importance with regard to the practice of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) to illuminate trees during DASARY, as is happening at present, and the MCC Commissioner was invited to avoid this practice.
