Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation blocks for health and infrastructure projects in value £6 300 CR in the Assam district of Darrang on Sunday, PTI said in the report.
After his visit to manipur, the first prime minister since 2023 ethnic violence between Kuki and Meitei communities, announced his plan to visit Assam the next day.
“All day tomorrow, 14th September will be devoted to the development of ASSAM! Projects worth through Rs. 18 530 Crore will be either inaugurated or their foundation stones will be laid,” he said on X (formerly Twitter), adding that the first program will be held in Darrang.
Allocation of investment
The PM Modi has launched a government development agenda by launching Darrang Medical College and the hospital together with the nursing university and the GNM school. Combined investment in these medical projects equals £570 crore, officials said PTI.
Modi also laid the endowment stone for the 2.9 km long Nareng-Kruwa bridge with an estimated investment £1 200 Crore and 118.5 km long Guwahati Ring Road project, which will connect the districts of Kamrup and Darrang in Assam with the Ri Bhoi district in Meghalaya.
The costs associated with the Ring Road Infrastructure have been estimated at £4 530 crore government officials, PTI reported.
What will be on the program?
Later during the day, PM Modi will present a newly built bamboo -based Ethanol race £5000 crore, along with another £7 230-Crore worth Petro Fluidized unit Catalytic Cracker in Numaligarh refinery in the Golaghat district in the state.
On Saturday evening, the Prime Minister arrived in Assam and continued to participate in the birth of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika and called him a great champion of Indian unity and integrity. He also stressed that the government is working on the realization of Hazarik’s dreams of a prosperous northeast.
After his stay in Assam, Modi will visit West Bengal and the 16th conference of combined commanders-2025 in Calcutta on 15 September around 9:30 am local time.
