Police are warning students of the danger of becoming money mules
Understanding the methods used by cyber criminals is the first line of defense against cyber fraud, District Superintendent of Police (Kochi City) S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar said here on Wednesday. He was inaugurating a cyber session for students at Government Law College, Ernakulam on Tuesday.
The program was organized by the Kochi City Police as part of the ongoing ‘Safe City Kochi’ initiative to create awareness about cyber financial fraud and the growing menace of mule money accounts among the youth.
The official warned of emerging trends in cybercrime, including virtual arrest scams, deep-pocketed fraud driven by artificial intelligence, transnational fraud networks operating from countries such as Cambodia, and various forms of social engineering and psychological manipulation.
The felicitation was delivered by KS Shahansha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order II), Kochi City. The meeting was chaired by Bindumol VC, Senior Principal, Government Law College.
A technical session on “Cyber Financial Frauds and Mule Accounts” was conducted by Arun R., Senior Civilian Police Officer, Cyber Police Station, Kochi.
