Pathum Nissanka scored a brilliant half -century when she surpassed Sri Lanka on Saturday at Sri Lanka Bangladesh to start the Asia Cup campaign with a complex six -member victory in Abu Dhabi. The win, achieved with 32 balls to save, will also provide a net rate in Sri Lanka, thus putting them in a strong position in Group B.
Bangladesh, winding 54 for five, appeared on the brink of collapse in front of the decisive sixth goalkeeper between Shami Hossaine (42 not out) and Jaker Ali (41 not out) saved his shifts. The couple deployed an undefeated 86-Region partnership to lead Bangladesh to 139 in five, which prevented what could be much humiliating in total.
In response that Sri Lanka faced premature frightening when Kusal Mendis was cheaply released, but for Bangladesh he proved to be a costly drop of Nissan. Nissanka, together with Kamil Mishara, consolidated shifts with a calm and measured partnership and effectively managed Sri Lanka for a comfortable victory. Several late goals were scored, but until then the result was never in doubt.
Previously at the beginning, Sri Lanka’s pitchs dominated. Nuwan Thushara struck in the first crossing and removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim for a duck and Dishmantha Chameer caught Parvez Emon in the second. The highlight of the field came from Kamil Mishar, whose sharp throw from the deep square foot was sent by Towhid Hidoy (8) back to the pavilion that crossed the fifth.
Despite Litton Das (28), he tried to attack Dasun Shanaka during the final after the PowerPlay final, and the match remained one -sided in favor of Sri Lanka. Waninda Hasarang (2/25) maintained pressure and released Mahedi Hasan (9) and DAS in a quick succession and further tilted the scales to Sri Lankova.
But Bangladesh showed resistance. Shamim and Jake earned on free vans and effectively turned the strike, which ensured that Bangladesh had achieved a somewhat decent total number. Their efforts, albeit commendable, were eventually insufficient to challenge a well -rounded bat set of Sri Lanka.
The clinical performance of Sri Lanka with Bat and Ball sent a strong message to the rest of the tournament, while Bangladesh now faces a collision with Afghanistan if they are to advance to the next round.
