
Eminent Timila Exponent Perringode Chandran won the chairman of the 2025 Guruvayur Devaswom Sree Guruvayuppan Kala Kala Purasaram. The prize will be awarded by Minister Devaswom VN Vasavan at a cultural meeting scheduled for 14th September in Melputhur Auditorium at Ashtami Rohini Mahotsavam.
The jury of the award, which consists of the chairman of Devaswom VK Vijayana, a member of the government body Brahmashri Mallisser Parameswaran namboothirippad, Maestro Mattannaor Sankaranykutty Mara and TK Narayanan unleavened Mr. Chandran for his contributions to the world of Panchavadyam.
The commanding presence in Kieral’s traditional percussion for more than four decades, Peringode Chandran comes from Peringode, Chazhikatriri Mathupulli in Palakkad. His renowned career was recognized by several honors, including the Keral Sangeeth Nataka Academy (2020–21), Kerala Kalamandalam Awards, the University Award (2003). Mr. Chandran, who has been a visiting professor in Kerala Kalamandalam since 2017, is in Thimilaile Jathikkalam, a biography written by P. Vasudevan, who is also the recipient of the Union’s cultural scholarship, also since 2017.
Sree Guruvayuppan Kshetra Kala Puraskaram, introduced in 1990, has a cash price of 55 555 GBP, 10 grams of gold medallion engraved with the image of the deity, plaque and citations and emotional citations.
