The Indian Captain and Vice -Chairman Shaubman Gill recently revealed that his two cricket idols have always been Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. The young captain became one of the most conjurious Indian doughs and has already become in the lead, after taking the Captain of the Test from Rohit Sharma and led India to a draw of the 2-2 series against England.
Gill’s rise to leadership in the Indian cricket coincided with the departure of the devotee as Kohli and Rohit from the test cricket. Gill, known as the “prince” reference to Kohli’s “king”, revealed in a podcast on Apple Music that he first idolized Tendulkar, favorite of his father, and later began to look at Kohl when he came as a player.
“I had two idols. The first of them was Sachin Tendulkar. He was a favorite dad and because of him I actually got into cricket. In 2013 he retired and around 2011-2013 was when I really started to understand the cricket – not only skills but also mental and tactical aspects.”
“That was also the time I started watching the virata Kohli carefully. I loved watching how he walked in my business, the complete passion he was for the game, and the hunger he was. You can learn all the skills and all techniques, but hunger is something or you.
Gill’s performance in England in 2025 emphasized why she was considered the future leader of the Indian cricket. He scored 754 runs in five tests on average 75.40, including four centuries. It is remarkable that every time he crossed fifty, he transferred it to a hundred.
In Edgbaston he scored 269 and 161 in the same match and accumulated 430 runs – Record for any Asian dough in a test series in England. His consistency and temperament placed him as a key figure for India, when the team enters the post-ohli-rosha era.
