The first heavy rain in Hyderabad left a trail of deaths, destruction, waterlogging and traffic snarls during the evening peak hour. In Kondapur and Madhapur, roads turned into huge puddles of water with some vehicles losing traction and floating. A similar situation prevailed in Krishnanagar in Yousufguda. The steel bridge between Indira Park and Bus Bhavan was flooded, forcing motorists to slow down. Near Chatta Bazar, the old entrance arch of Salar Jungs family residence collapsed. While power supply was disrupted in many areas, two persons were electrocuted in Chandrayangutta after they came in contact with electric wires.

Several locations witnessed knee-deep waterlogging. Several cars and two-wheelers were seen partially submerged in rainwater along the Kondapur-Kothaguda stretch. At the Nayani Narasimha Reddy Steel Bridge, stranded commuters were forced to push their two-wheelers through water as heavy downpours almost brought traffic to a standstill in several parts of the city.

Around 16:00, several parts of the city were covered by dark clouds. Strong winds accompanied by intense rain lashed areas including Nacharam, Habsiguda, Tarnaka, Secunderabad and Begumpet, catching many commuters by surprise. Several residents were seen sheltering under subway stations as the sudden spell disrupted evening travel. Over the next three hours, the rain almost brought traffic to a standstill in several parts of the city.

All the vaunted clean-up drives and monsoon preparedness by the newly formed Cyberabad Municipal Corporation were canceled as motorists started sharing videos and photos of the traffic chaos and waterlogging on social media. Slow traffic was reported from Puranapul, the stretch from Jubilee Hills towards Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, Karbala Maidan, BRK Bhavan, Shaikpet bridge, Hafeezpet, Kondapur, Khajaguda junction, ITC Kohenur, Gachibowli flyover, Malakpet, Laxmi Nagar, Mepati Flyover towards Attaugu, Massage Tank Bridge, Madhapur and Wipro Junction.

In the Old City, a portion of the Kaman Heritage Board at Chatta Bazar collapsed on power lines, damaging the electrical infrastructure and causing a short circuit. Following the incident, traffic was diverted from Chatta Bazar towards Madina. Elsewhere, a tree fell on the service road of JNTU, contributing to traffic disruption.
