Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) said the state has made rapid strides in infrastructure development and implementation of welfare schemes during the last 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Majhi said that Odisha has received an annual allocation of more than ₹10,928 crore in the railway budget for the current financial year, while railway projects worth ₹90,000 crore are in various stages of implementation.

“The state has achieved 100% electrification of railways. Upgradation of 59 stations is going on under ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ programme,” he said.

Highlighting the port-led development initiatives, the Chief Minister said that a satellite port is being developed at Bahuda in Ganjam district with an investment of ₹ 21,500 crore under the Sagarmala and PM Gati Shakti schemes. “A ₹22,700 crore mega shipbuilding cluster is also being set up at the mouth of the Mahanadi at Kendrapara, along with a captive jetty at Jatadhara,” he added, listing the Centre’s support for the state.

“Today marks the culmination of 12 years of uninterrupted, transparent service, strong governance and extensive pro-poor social initiatives by the Central Government along with two successful years of its third term. Mr. Modi is set to create a new national record by becoming the longest serving democratically elected Prime Minister and completing 4,399 days in office,” Mr. Majhi said.

He further noted that despite global challenges such as the war in Ukraine and the crisis in West Asia, India remains the fastest growing major economy with a growth rate in the range of 7-9%. “There was a time when India was counted among the ‘Fragile Five’ economies. Today, under the leadership of Mr. Modi, the country has achieved a growth rate of 7.7% in the financial year 2025-26, despite disruptions in the global supply chain,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the Modi government has brought transformational changes across the parameters of development by combining scale and speed in implementing social welfare programmes.
