At least 22 prisoners who escaped from Nepal prisons after the collapse of the government were detained on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along the border of Nepalese Pradeš, a higher government official said.
The prisoners were detained on the basis of lists of prisoners shared by the Armed forces of Nepal with their counterparts, SSB. The prisoners are currently in custody of Uttar Pradesh, the official said. Thousands of prisoners are said to have fled in Nepal after the massive protests of young people across the country against corruption and non -printing.

The escapes were “illegal foreigners” and were caught and imprisoned, another government official said.
UP police are likely to register the case under the Act on Foreigners and Immigration, 2025 against leaks, the official said.
SSB, central armed police force, protects the border of 1,751 km with Nepal and 699 km of India-Bhutan border.
The clerk explained that the movement of people from Nepal to India had fallen significantly due to the ban on the army deposited.
Nepal and India share an open border, and the inhabitants of the neighboring country are allowed to enter without visas and passport -based visas, including driving licenses, and the government issued, among other things.
“The Armed Forces of Nepal shared a list of prisoners who fled from Nepal prisons, and we detained the suspects on the basis of this information. We deployed staff at all checkpoints and all gaps are secured,” the official said, adding that an official who could go up in the coming days.
The official stated that no further deployment was carried out, but the staff was moved closer to the border and other possible points were fortified together with the usual entry points.
If the situation in the neighborhood deteriorates, it follows the watch on the possible influx of people, the official said.
